Welcome to the website of CaRe, The Netherlands School of Primary Care Research. 
 
The mission of CaRe is the development of scientific evidence-based knowledge in the field of primary health care and the implementation of this knowledge as evidence-based practice.
 
The activities of CaRe concentrate on the PhD-training programme, on strategies to strengthen research in primary health care, transmural care, public health and health policy, and on coordinating common activities of the participating institutes. CaRe organizes and monitors PhD-courses and supports PhD-students in building a strong scholarly network in their field.
 
CaRe was established as a research school and recognized by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1995. Participating institutes are the School for Public Health and Primary Care (CAPHRI) of Maastricht University, the Centre for Evidence Based Practice (NCEBP) of the University Medical Centre Radboud in Nijmegen, the Institute for Research in Extramural Medicine (EMGO) of the VU Medical Center in Amsterdam and the Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research (NIVEL) in Utrecht.
