Hinke Kruizenga in newspaper Trouw about malnourishment in hospitals
More than one in five hospital patients are
already malnourished at admission: mostly older people, patients with cancer or
from the department of internal medicine, according to the Dutch Malnutrition
Prevalence Survey in Hospitals (NPOZ).
For this survey data from more than
550,000 patients in 14 hospitals is used. The NPOZ is carried out by the
Malnutrition Steering Group and the Dutch Association of Dietitians, with
project leader Hinke Kruizenga (EMGO+).
The question is: how can
hospitals ensure that patients in those four days will not lose even more
weight, and preferably even slightly strengthen?
