Changes to the Operation of the Research School CaRe as of 2025
To all PhD candidates and researchers affiliated with CaRe,
With this letter, we would like to inform you of an important change in the operation of the Research School CaRe. Maastricht University has decided that, as of mid-2025, it will no longer make the financial resources previously allocated to the research school available to CaRe.
The CaRe board deeply regrets this decision, particularly at a time when national and international scientific collaboration in the field of public health and healthcare is becoming increasingly important. At the same time, the board and the research directors of CaRe have reaffirmed the great value of the annual gathering of PhD candidates and senior researchers associated with CaRe. Additionally, the leadership program remains a significant achievement, contributing to the international reputation that CaRe has built over the past 30 years.
However, the withdrawal of university support means that a new form of collaboration must be found for these activities, which are so vital to public health and primary care.
You will be informed in due course via your institutes about the developments regarding this transition.
Kind regards,
Prof. Dr. Chris van Weel
Chair of the Executive Board of CaRe
