Hilde Verbeek, professor of Long-Term Care Environments, has been welcomed as one of ten new members of The Young Academy in December 2019. The Young Academy is a collective of excellent young researchers and scholars. The Academy organizes special activities for specific target groups, which focus on interdisciplinary collaboration, science policy and the connection between science and the society.

Moreover, Hilde Verbeek has been appointed early 2020 as Professor of Long-Term Care Environments at the Department of Health Services Research, Maastricht University. Her research will focus mainly on investigating innovative care environments for frail older people and people with dementia. Such care environments involve alternatives for the traditional nursing homes, for example, care environments set within the community. Hilde Verbeek is also a coordinator of the Academic Collaborative Centre on Care for Older People, South Limburg.
